DATA COLLECTION
The International Arctic Vegetation Database (IAVD) will create the first vegetation database that will encompass an entire biome. A first planning workshop was held in Denmark in 2012 with a second planned for April 2013 in Poland.
The Circumboreal Vegetation Map (CBVM) is working on developing a global map of the Circumboreal forest biome with a common legend. By recognizing the boreal region as a single geo-ecosystem with a common set of cultural, political and economic issues, the CBVM project will be the first detailed vegetation map of the entire global biome.
